The many clean penetration shots from artillery seem to show the extreme quantities of duds, do they?

Good question, Egbert. It looks like it was shot at with cannon balls. Given that the walls look peppered with smaller marks, is that caused by shrapnel balls, and the bigger dents by the nose caps and empty shell banging into the wall?
