Ralph Husey was a pre-war officer in the 5th Battalion London Rifle Brigade (London Rifle Brigade), and he served at Ypres a number of times during the Great War. He was at Ploegsteert during the winter 1914/15, took part in Second Ypres, and later returned as a Brig-Gen in the 8th Division in 1917. He was killed on the Chemin des Dames in May 1918.
