Evening all, I joined because I'm interested in Europe's C20th and I think that the Great War was the formative experience of the century.
I haven't made my mind up about the place of the 3rd Battle of Ypres in the course and history of the war so I hope that participating in the forum will help me decide. |

Hi and welcome
Read a couple of books on Passchendaele and visit Tyne Cot, Polygon Wood, Messines and Langemarke. They help to confirm the significance of 3rd Ypres which my parents and relations used to mention in hushed reverent tones as they spoke the name 'Passchendaele'. It clearly had a greater significance in the 20th C than it does now. Bernard |
